Hello, friend! Welcome back to Blonde Girl Writing, where I talk about writing, God, and reading. Today I wanted to share some thoughts on why I create, and how this might be different for me than it is for others.
The most important reason why I create (such as drawing and writing) is to honor God. He's given me the talent to arrange words in such a way to impact lives and tell stories that change people, and I want to use that talent--that gift--to serve and honor the One Who gave it to me. James 1:17 (NKJV) says that "...[e]very good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights..."
I also create so I can make a difference in the world. I want to write to show the world light and truth. I want my writing to lead people to God. I want my writing to help others understand Who He is and what He has done. That's why I write stories about broken characters who come to find Jesus through their pain--it's something we can all relate to, and this shows people that there is still hope in the darkness. Theme is also very important to me, and I especially love to write about finding where you belong, because for such a long time I struggled with this. Now God has given me a place to truly belong among other followers who love Him, and I am so grateful for that. I just have to write about it!
I create because my God is a Creator Himself. He literally made me and the entire world, just by speaking words! Words are powerful, and I'm very grateful that I can wield these words to write books that inspire and uplift others. I was made in God's image, and because He is the Master Storyteller, I, too, am able to tell stories.
Let me know down below: do you agree with my thoughts? Is there anything you disagree with? Anything you want to add? Why do you create?
Thank you for reading my random ramblings. I hope that you can see now why I create, and why it's so important for me to honor God in my writing. Have a great day, friend!
Best wishes,
~ Jonah
